No I'm not venting. This is actually just something to get me out of my recent case of artist block. Watching an animal show and well.... they started talking about these lil guys [link] Needless to say I was inspired. I would really like a critique on this piece though.
I really like the pose one this. The darkness and overall blackness in this just gives the feeling of dread. If that doesn't give that feeling of dread, her facial expression towards the crows is what really drives this image. Each time I look at this, I almost touch my back for I can somewhat feel the crows pulling the muscles within my back. The design in the back is unique, and I don't see that often, I think one thing that could have made it slightly better is if you would have made some blood trickle, or the birds have slight blood on their beaks. Even without that this is just a great peice of art. OUO
There is so much win in the piece. Creme's pose is stellar, and for once you've managed to get her markings right, because you usually get those wrong hahaha. I just love the piece.
If I were you, I would have darkened Creme's white fur to make the dark feel of the piece more universal. Another thing I would have done is a more consistant shading style. What I mean by that is the way you did the diagonal lines with the added shadows. I would have either done the diagonal lines throughout all of the shading, or not done it at all. Also, under her eye, there's that darker mark. I'm not quite sure if that is shadow or a marking because it's hard to tell. If it is shading, then it doesn't really agree with the light direction, since it appears that the light is coming from the viewer's right.
Other than what I listed, the piece is looking really good! I love it!
